Learn the theoretical basics for the private pilot license whenever and wherever you like. The eLearning Correspondence Course from Heli Züri provides this opportunity. You decide the pace and duration of your studies. Our flight instructors will assist you actively during the course.

In collaboration with Heli Sitterdorf AG and the Swiss Helicopter School Association we will provide the necessary learning material electronically online, and in the form of eBooks.<

For more information about the course itself, our flight instructors will be glad to answer your questions. Just give us a call.<

Individually you will work through the different chapters using the guided chapter structure provided on the Internet platform, and the learning material in the form of eBooks. After each chapter there will be a self-assessment-test. When successfully completed, the tested on topic will be viewed as accomplished.

In case of questions you may contact a Subject Instructor who will provide the necessary aid in form of an e-mail or phone call.

As soon as you have gone through all the chapters, and have successfully completed the self-assessment-tests, you will attend the Presence-Seminar, which is held about four times a year. During the seminar the subjects material will be reviewed and summarized. Additionally it gives you the opportunity to ask questions. At the end you will write a preliminary exam. After the successful completion of this exam you will be well prepared for the official BAZL-Exam, and therefore enrolled.

The BAZL-Exams are held monthly in different locations all across Switzerland. For the nine theoretical subjects you are given a maximum of six examination days, so called Sittings. Therefore you will be obliged to take multiple subjects a day. In between the first and the last exam taken the time span may be no more than 18 months.

We recommend a combined training of the theoretical course and the practical one. Since the practical aspect complements the theoretical one, and therefore makes the latter more comprehensible. Additionally may possible uncertainties concerning the theory be clarified with the flight instructor right away.

In case of failure of either one, or multiple subjects you can rewrite the exam for each subject up to three times; each repetition will be counted to the other Sittings, of which you may, as before mentioned, at most have six. Once you have reached the limit of six Sittings, or have failed a subject more then four times, the whole exam must be retaken.

After the successful completion of the BAZL-Exams you are given 24 months in order to take the Skill Test (practical test), the VFR - Radio Conversations Exam (oral exam), as well as the Language Test (LPC).

The Bridge Course includes specific helicopter subjects only (see Subjects Summary). It is directed to pilots in possession of a license for fixed-wing airplanes.
